STANDARD DUTIES:
As an Investigative Officer 1/Trainee in the Office of Special Investigations, the incumbent will Investigate allegations of identity theft and fraudulent claims, analyze leads on alleged identity theft, analyze data to determine whether claims are fraudulent, and verify identities and refer for appropriate action. This includes interviewing and obtaining sworn testimony of employers, UI claimants and witnesses. Collecting and analyzing evidence for comprehensive written reports and issuing determinations on behalf of the Commissioner of Labor.

Salary Range:
From $46529 to $69882 Annually

Current New York State Department of Labor employee with at least one year of permanent competitive, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as an Investigative Officer 1/Trainee if you have less than on year, you must be reachable on the current eligible list for this location, if one exists. 70.1 TRANSFER
Qualifications:
One year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service as a grade 11 or higher determined to be similar by Civil Service. 70.4 TRANSFER
Qualifications:
1. One year of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service in a position allocated to a Salary Grade 11 or higher. 2. Must meet the Minimum qualifications of an Investigative Officer 1/Trainee. 3. A passing score on an Investigative Officer 1/Trainee exam. 4. Candidates must not have failed the most recent examination for this title. NOTE:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
