POSITION DESCRIPTION:
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, incumbents will work under the supervision of the Head and Chief OT. OT services are provided as an integral part of an interdisciplinary treatment team to support individuals with developmental disabilities to live to their fullest potential within their homes and communities. The licensed OT will provide services following NYS Practice Standards to evaluate and treat individuals under the prescription or referral of a physician. Incumbents may supervise Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
A Senior Occupational Therapist in this position provides comprehensive Occupational Therapy services to individuals with Developmental Disabilities in state operated IRAs, Family Care Homes, Day Habilitation Programs, and Article 16 Clinics in Onondaga County. Duties include but are not limited to:
o Evaluate individuals across all pertinent areas of the OT Practice Framework o Provide direct OT services using an Evidence-Based Practice approach o Develop necessary plans, routines, and guidelines. o Complete thorough and timely documentation and billing within the electronic health record in compliance with Medicare and Medicaid regulations o Train agency staff in implementation of OT-related plans, routines, etc. o Assess, justify, acquire, and modify Durable Medical Equipment (DME) o Educate staff in agency initiatives such as Choking Prevention, Safe Patient Handling, Fall Prevention, Autism Awareness and other related initiatives o Collaborate professionally with all other disciplines on the treatment team to provide comprehensive person-centered services based on the valued outcomes of each individual and the principles of the HCBS Waiver. SELECTION CRITERIA:
o Ability to function as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team relating to professional, para-professional and direct care staff. o Ability to communicate in a thorough, concise, accurate and professional manner both verbally and in writing. o Training/public speaking experience. o Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities o Possess an acceptable time and attendance record as specified in the time and attendance policy. o Possess an acceptable work record.

Salary Range:
From $60069 to $76387 Annually

Qualifications:
Candidates must be reachable for appointment from the current Civil Service eligible list for the title; OR Transfer Opportunity:
You must currently be permanent as a Senior Occupational Therapist and be eligible for lateral transfer; or be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law by having at least one year of permanent service in a title approved for transfer by Civil Service within two salary grades on the Grade 18 level. For appointment to the Senior Occupational Therapist title, you must be licensed and currently registered to practice as an Occupational Therapist in New York State AND have one year of post licensure occupational therapy experience.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
