Internal Investigator 2 (OCFS)

Provides daily supervision, coordination, and evaluation of assigned Internal Investigators 1 (OCFS). Manages own investigative caseload and monitors investigative caseloads of subordinates to ensure that cases are investigated in a timely and appropriate manner. Conducts interviews and interrogations to investigate allegations of employee misconduct. Reviews all investigative work conducted by SIU staff to ensure they are complete and carried out in an appropriate manner. Confers with supervisors and program specialists regarding investigative findings and recommendations, as necessary. Trains new employees in the process and techniques required in the performance of their job. Delivers training to internal staff related to the investigations process. Provides direction and to staff on new policies, procedures, and investigative strategies Serves as Lead Investigator when the nature of the case is complex or of a sensitive nature. Prepares detailed investigative reports in a timely and accurate manner. In the absence of the Chief and Assistant Chief of Investigations, assesses cases as received from all referral sources and assigns investigations to SIU staff accordingly. Ensures that confidentiality of information gathered during the investigative process is maintained. Routinely meets with each investigator regarding all aspects of the case and various strategies to be employed, coordinates investigative efforts, and provides guidance to staff regarding investigation plans. Manages problems that arise during the course of the investigation. Maintains liaison with internal and external staff, as necessary, to facilitate information sharing and access to investigative resources. Engages in field activities when necessary, including surveillance and the collection and preservation of physical evidence. Provides testimony at arbitration hearings to support the outcome of the investigation, if necessary. Additional duties will be discussed in detail during the interview.

Salary Range:
From $76326 to $95361 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Eight years of field investigative experience , two years of which must have been in a supervisory role. Substitutions:
An Associate's degree may substitute for two years of non-supervisory field investigative experience. Two years of children and family program experience may substitute for two years of non-supervisory field investigative experience. A Bachelor's degree may substitute for four years of non-supervisory field investigative experience Note:
All candidates must have at least two years of supervisory field investigative experience, regardless of other substitutions. Investigatory experience would include the following non-structured activities:
interviewing and interrogating witnesses; collecting and analyzing data and evidence; writing and summarizing case narratives; testifying at administrative hearings and criminal proceedings; experience as a police investigator; and/or conducting child welfare investigations, such as those performed by Child Protective Services caseworkers. Non-qualifying experience - Experience in auditing, employment interviewing, building security surveillance, traffic enforcement, or performing routine inspections or surveys will NOT be considered investigative experience. Qualifying children and family program experience is defined as professional experience providing services to children and their families either in the inspection, management, or administration of:
foster care programs; day care programs; adoption programs; domestic violence programs; youth detention facilities; or other providers of care, support, and assistance to children, assuring compliance for certification, or licensing purposes; OR providing, supervising, monitoring, or administering human services; juvenile justice; criminal justice; local departments of social services; or local voluntary childcare service programs providing services for children, adults, or their families, including but not limited to, providing social casework, case planning, case management, counseling, crisis intervention, advocacy on behalf of clients, or direct investigation of potential abuse and neglect. This position may be designated 55 b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
